GREEN ENERGY CONTRACTS
Green Energy Contracts for business
Renewable energy is becoming an increasingly popular choice for companies looking to green their operations and boost their sustainability credentials.
With our environmental focus, purchasing power and extensive industry contracts, we’re specialists in securing the best green energy contracts for your business.
Unlike ‘brown power’, which comes from carbon-heavy, environmentally-damaging fossil fuel sources, green or renewable power comes from natural sources such as the sun (solar power), wind or hydro (water power). Electricity from these sources is clean, low carbon and will play a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.
The advantages of going green
Demonstrate your commitment to climate action.
Secure the CSR credentials demanded by clients, customers and shareholders.
Creates a quick win for companies that want to reduce their carbon emissions.
Helps boost business longevity by guarding against the volatility associated with brown power.
Is going green more expensive?
Historically, green energy was seen as a more expensive alternative to power from traditional brown sources, but that’s no longer the case. The cost gap between the two is closing rapidly due to increasingly affordable renewables infrastructure, coupled with extreme price fluctuations in fossil fuel markets.
This volatility is only set to worsen, so businesses choosing green electricity now, will help mitigate escalating costs in the future. Our expertise in the green energy sector means we can find the right renewable energy contract for the needs of your organisation.

Sources of Green Energy - Peer to Peer vs REGO
Peer-to-peer trading - the future of green power
Many forward-thinking businesses are now exploring green power in a peer-to-peer trading context. This is where energy generators and consumers are matched up based on their supply and demand. For example, an office might be powered directly by a local solar farm, or a warehouse might draw from a neighbouring wind turbine.
Peer-to-peer trading not only enables businesses to fully understand where their power is coming from, but also provides a financial benefit for both electricity consumers and the generators through a discount on industry costs. In conjunction with F&S Energy, we are one of the very first consultancies in the UK to offer this option to our customers, so we can help you to secure a good value, green energy contract ahead of the competition.
The Green Energy Guarantee (REGO)
The UK’s REGO (Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin) scheme is designed to help businesses understand how much of the electricity they purchase comes from renewable sources. The initiative is backed by Ofgem, which acts on behalf of the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Ofgem gives every energy provider one REGO certificate for every 1,000 units, or one megawatt hour (MWh), of renewable energy they generate. These certificates are generally considered proof that at least some of their energy mix comes from renewable sources. However, there are some challenges associated with REGOs – click below to learn more about this here.
We are able to help you navigate the REGO system, so you can be assured that the energy you purchase comes from genuinely renewable sources and can explore how peer-to-peer purchasing could work for you. Contact our dedicated specialist advisors.
