VOLTAGE OPTIMISATION
What is Voltage Optimisation?
Voltage optimization is an electrical energy saving technique that is installed in series with the electricity supply to match supply voltage specific to the site’s equipment. Voltage optimization reduces the voltage of the electricity supplied to equipment, ensuring the excess voltages from the national grid supply isn’t used at the site.
How does Voltage Optimisation work?
Electrical equipment (such as motors, HVAC and LED lighting) perform less efficiently when exposed to excessive voltage and poor power quality. For example, take a normal 230V rated lamp – when run at 240V, it will fail after 550 hours instead of 1000, drawing nine per cent more energy. Now imagine that problem spread across an entire site, with every single component failing faster and wasting energy. That’s expensive and will be corrected with voltage optimization technology.
What are the benefits?
Saves electrical energy: Typical buildings save between six to twelve percent of electrical spend.
Improves power factor: Power conditioning reduces reactive power by up to 40%
Reduces harmonics: Attenuating triple-n harmonics helps balance the three phases supplied.
Protects against common transients: Protects against voltage spikes which can have a devastating effect on sensitive electronic equipment.
